Dinale Update – by Kris-lets hope i did this right!

So its Kristy blogging here, thought I’d give it a go! So we finished up at St matts nearly a month ago, so much has happened in that time, yet so little too. There is plenty to do for BrokenChapel, in fact the list seems endless! This past month we have been meeting with our core team to help develop a time line of our plan and to brainstorm more ideas for reaching people in Queanbeyan.

Josh has had a meeting with the principal of Queanbeyan high and learnt that Q high has one of the highest rates of teenage pregnancy. This was like God flashing a sign for me; I keep wondering exactly what I will do with BrokenChapel, especially as a lot of the people we have encountered and connected with so far are guys. Since having Alexis I have been running a playgroup and I have loved meeting with those women. The group is about friendship and letting our kids burn some energy to (hopefully) make the day go a little quicker! I am really excited about connecting with these girls who have babies while still at school. I am not sure exactly how I will go about this and I need to have at chat with the school about what’s already in place but it’s an awesome opportunity!

As some of you may know this is my last semester of the never ending nursing degree I started in 2004. My last exam is June 9th and I have a position with ACT health starting Aug 3rd. I am currently on placement at Belconnen Mental Health Team and loving every minute of it, I want to specialise in Mental Health. I am in the process of applying for a scholarship where I work for ACT health but they pay for the grad dip and I get to rotate through the different areas of mental health. This is part-time work part-time study. I’m very interested in it and need to do it to work in mental health but timing and uni have never worked so well for me! So please pray that God will close the door if I am not meant to do it at this time.

So because I have been on placement Josh has been stay at home mum. Lexi has loved having him around and josh has (mostly) enjoyed the time at home too. I have missed her but loved doing my own thing and using my brain and having adult conversations everyday for the first time in 18 months!

Josh is currently studying to get his personal training cert IV. So we are pretty busy at the moment with me working 8-430 mon- fri, josh working 2 split 6hr shifts on both thurs and fri and studying wed night and all day sat. Thankfully things will slow down a bit after next week when I complete placement. All these things are important to get done now so we can earn some money while venturing through the BrokenChapel journey.

Josh will be joining John Burke on his speaking tour in June, we have confirmed he is speaking in Melbourne (June13th) and hoping he can speak at the Sydney and Brisbane one also. Either way this conference is going to be great http://www.willowcreek.org.au/index.cfm?event=2

The last weekend in June we are planning on doing our own little tour to Sydney to raise support and awareness of BrokenChapel. Keep it free and come along and support us!

Please continue to pray for our family as we all adjust to the many many changes happening at the moment and Praise God for so faithfully upholding us and providing for us.

~ this blogging thing is not too bad! Maybe I’ll post again!!
